About the workBlowing a perfect egg shape freehand is still one of the greatest challenges in the art of glassmaking. It must not appear clumsy, but must be under tension, as it were. The vase symbolises the early goals of the V.S.M. Cappellin Venini & C. glassworks and the successor companies that emerged from it in 1925: To liberate Venetian glass art from the ornamentation of the 19th century and to lead it into the modern age with clear forms in the style of its heyday in the 16th and 17th centuries. The designs of the artist Vittorio Zecchin were decisive in this endeavour.
