About the workLess is more—this often applies to glass decoration. This work is probably inspired by Asian ideas of beauty. The fusing together of colourfully patterned glass panes to form a mosaic has been one of Murano’s typical glass techniques since the middle of the 19th century. Another Venetian speciality is the precise joining of several pieces to form a vessel. As a contemporary gift from the Venini glassworks to the museum, this piece is a particularly valuable document.
