About the workTwo portraits, almost identical at first glance – and yet different in their expression and in the stories they tell. In her ongoing series Exposures, Barbara Probst deconstructs the photographic moment. To achieve this, several photographs are taken simultaneously from different viewpoints. The title provides information about the location and time of the photograph. Probst’s approach reveals that a photograph never represents a single, definitive reality. At the same time, the work becomes a metaphor for human experience: we always perceive the world from our own perspective and discover its complexity only through a change of viewpoint.
