About the workThe Japanese term "ukiyo-e" means "pictures of the floating world" and refers to woodcuts and paintings that often depict everyday scenes. Tradition and progress come together in this visual world, as this woodcut demonstrates. The picture shows a silk spinning mill at the national industrial fair near Tokyo.
