About the workA view from a passing car, crickets chirping in the ear – Berit Schneidereit's work evokes summer associations. The slight shift in perspective from one image to the next demonstrates that only a few seconds elapsed between them. The grid that runs across the entire surface of the image can only be seen at close range. The structure is the result of a darkroom manipulation, created by exposing the negative together with a grid. In this way, Schneidereit makes us aware of the photographic medium.
