About the workOtto Mueller's penchant for nature as opposed to city life found expression in scenes of nudes in the open air. The Finding of Moses is an Old Testament narrative. Mueller chose this theme because it does not require any particular historical iconography, but allows the depiction of figures in a natural state embedded in a lush landscape of reeds. This print is one of the first colour lithographs by the artist, who taught at the State Academy for Art and Applied Arts in Breslau beginning in 1919.
