on display, room G15 About the workThe British sculptor Tony Cragg, who lives in Wuppertal, Germany, discovered his fascination for glassmaking in 1986 in Leerdam in the Netherlands. He was fascinated by the shapes that the soft glass had due to its surface tension; "...the bodies have an almost rational appearance because of the nature of the material itself...". In Leerdam, Cragg met the entrepreneur Adriano Berengo, who shortly afterwards founded a glassworks in Murano. Berengo’s aim was to renew Venetian glass art by collaborating with international artists.
