About the workThe dream of owning a home with a garden and pool – Stefan Kürten explores human desires in his works. The Düsseldorf painter often uses residential buildings in the design of the Bauhaus as settings: rational, functional, open to nature. The scenes appear idyllic and timeless, yet tilt towards the uncanny. This relief shows a summer evening that appears deserted, as if swallowed up by deep shadows. Engravings in the wood, painted indentations and blackened elevations create a mysterious atmosphere.
