About the workDeliberately imperfect: the sculptures by Cologne sculptor Ulrike Schulze catch the eye with their rough, open, untreated materiality. At the same time, the diverse materials used by the artist, who trained at the Düsseldorf Art Academy, seem almost incompatible. The works do not aim for a flawless aesthetic appearance. On the contrary, they reveal their own processual character and reflect aspects of incompleteness or even vulnerability.
