About the workIn this case, BRD does not stand for Federal Republic of Germany, but for "Bankrupt Constitutional State of Germany". Nicholas Warburg, who trained at the Städelschule in Frankfurt, has painted a mind map on wooden panelling that evokes associations with kitschy clubhouses, dimly lit party cellars or petty bourgeois homes in rustic oak. The chaotic diagram refers to absurd conspiracy theories. With current political trends in mind, Warburg, who was born after the fall of the Berlin Wall, examines German history and ist sometimes insufficient reappraisal.
