About the workThe Berlin sculptor Miriam Jonas is known for her sculptures and installations, in which she uses a clear formal language to imbue the familiar with new meanings in a humorous and playful way. Her works shift between the aesthetic of industrial surfaces and the uncanny lurking beneath. Their effect is often ambivalent: the sculpture of a large, black down jacket, for example, evokes a sense of warmth, but ist rigid and shiny materiality also makes it seem like a cold armour.
