on display, room 009.1The publishing house was able to boast a first publication by the famous composer Robert Schumann when he set Eduard Mörike's poem "Der Gärtner" (The Gardener) to music. This scene in the "Düsseldorfer Lieder-Album" (Düsseldorf Song Album) was created by German artist Wilhelm Camphausen, who graduated from the Düsseldorf Art Academy in 1850. It is reminiscent of the Middle Ages: From his hiding place, the enamored gardener adores the princess riding through the park on a white horse. Camphausen later worked as a battle painter and depicted moments, for example, of the Franco-Prussian War in 1870/71.
