About the workDepictions of interiors characterise the paintings of Berlin artist Anton Henning. He often draws on different pictorial genres and styles. With the motif of the "picture within a picture", he refers here to various epochs in art history. In view of the vibrant surfaces, the room itself looks like a colour field painting from the 1960s. The armchair and side table are reminiscent of furniture design classics. This work is exemplary of the way in which Henning merges painting, design and interior architecture to create a "total work of art".
