About the workBehrens only created a few designs for drinking glasses. This set of glasses exists in several versions. It was also produced by the Rheinische Glashütten-AG Cologne-Ehrenfeld in 1901 with slightly different dimensions. The cut version is the most elaborate and very rare. The artistic work of the painter, architect and designer Peter Behrens was initially characterised by linear ornamentation, a hallmark of Art Nouveau in Germany. Shortly after 1900, he turned away from this and became a pioneer of clear design.
