About the workBooks of hours contain prayers for specific times of day and night. The decoration of these personal, often small books was decided by their owners, so no two books of hours are alike. This copy is bound in red velvet. The leaves of the book present the texts accompanied by ornamental borders. Differently designed letters make it easier to read the handwritten manuscript. The pages are made from prepared animal skin, known as vellum, which is an extremely valuable material.
