About the workHow does an Afro-European woman grow up in a society in which the idea of being European is equated with white skin color? In this personal work, the Düsseldorf-based artist Anys Reimann draws on experiences from her youth as the daughter of a West African father and a mother from former East Prussia. Questions of identities and narratives, of gender and origin determine her "Collage Paintings". The collage technique enables her to reassign the single elements, which have been removed from their original contexts.
