About the workErika Hock combines art, architecture and design to explore overarching themes such as perception, transformation and the nature of materials. Her works move between the everyday and the experimental, placing familiar objects in unusual contexts. The Cologne-based artist draws inspiration from the appearance and use of furnishings, which she playfully alienates. In this piece, she has shielded the light of a floor lamp using tubular thread curtains. The object in pastel colours transforms our view through changing visual axes.
