About the workChris Reinecke’s poster motifs were inspired by the "ROSTA windows" of the Russian poet and artist Vladimir Mayakovsky (1893–1930). From 1919–1922, he led a collective in the Russian Telegraph Agency (ROSTA) building that designed posters on current political issues. The posters were not displayed on the walls of buildings, but in the windows of empty shops, hence the name "ROSTA windows". Just like her Russian, post-revolutionary role model, Reinecke chose combinations of images and text. Again and again we see how the powerful crush their helpless victims.
