About the workOn 9 January 2007 Apple co-founder Steve Jobs presented the first smartphone in the iPhone series in San Francisco. Its European launch took place in November of that year. Although the Finnish mobile phone manufacturer Nokia had presented its first smartphone – the Communicator 9000 – back in 1996, it failed to become popular as its keypad made it difficult to use. Alongside the iPhone’s light, clear design and various multimedia offerings, the main new feature of the Apple phone was its multi-touch screen, which made it easy to operate.
