About the workNicholas Krushenick loved opposites. This is already evident in the title of his graphic series “Iron Butterfly Suite”, which he named after Iron Butterfly, a psychedelic rock band founded in 1960 – and a play on words with mutually exclusive definitions. Taking the improvisations from the group’s 1968 album “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida”, the artist transformed them into shapes and colours; bright abstract colour forms meet hard black boundary lines and produce effects that transcend the visible.
