About the workErnst Schieron’s oeuvre is defined by contrasts. Little is known about his life and work, except that he was a full-time watchmaker and devoted himself to photography in his free time. On the one hand, his imagery was influenced by the avant-garde of the 1920s: he captured objects in a clear, natural style and experimented with multiple exposures. On the other hand, after Adolf Hitler rose to power, Schieron used his artistic abilities to support Nazi policies by creating propaganda collages.
