About the work“Living with Pop – A Demonstration for Capitalist Realism” was the title of an exhibition and art action organised by Gerhard Richter and Konrad Lueg in a Düsseldorf furniture store. In contrast to the idealised representations of work and everyday life in Socialist Realism, the West Berlin gallery owner René Block adapted the concept and turned “Capitalist Realism” into a brand. A catalogue of the same name was published in 1971; it featured self-portraits by Richter and Lueg as well as ones by Sigmar Polke, KP Brehmer, K. H. Hödicke and Wolf Vostell.
