About the workWith ist simple, handcrafted form, this bowl is a typical example of the style of architect and designer Max Benirschke. In 1903, he became a teacher of architectural drawing at the Düsseldorf School of Applied Arts led by Peter Behrens. During this period, he met the philosopher Rudolf Steiner, whose teachings on natural philosophy influenced his work. In 1934, in the wake of the Nazi Party’s accession to power, Benirschke lost his professional licence. After the Second World War, he devoted himself to Steiner’s anthroposophy in various working groups, which were also frequented by the artist Joseph Beuys.
