Spatial Sculpture "Large Flowing One", 1969
Stainless steel
(H x W x D)340 × 420 × 270 cm
About the workCurved steel wires draw lines in the air, formally reminiscent of the abstract painting of the post-war years. Still connected in the middle, Norbert Kricke’s sculptures often appear as if a knot has been untied, from which the individual elements dynamically stretch in all directions. The sculpture was installed in 2006 during the retrospective of his work at the Kunstpalast. The Düsseldorf artist studied at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Berlin and taught at the Kunstakademie in Düsseldorf from 1964, where he introduced the tradition of the academy tour during his time as director between 1972 and 1982.
