About the workFor thousands of years, red was a much sought-after glass colour. Its production required great effort. The intense coral red colour of this bowl was still a sensational achievement in the 20th century. It is a special glass mass, a “pasta vitrea”, which was difficult to control due to the long cooling times required for blowing vessels. Bowls of this shape but different colours were exhibited in Leipzig in 1929. The bowl is reminiscent of Japanese lacquered rice bowls.
