About the workMosaic glass was a speciality of the Toso family in Murano. In the traditional process, the fused discs each had a centre point like small flowers. In the 1950s and early 1960s, the glassworks used more freely designed sections of patterned glass rods. Fratelli Toso was founded in 1854 by Pietro Toso and his six sons, who passed on their shares to the next generation. The company survived several economic crises and remained in operation until it was closed down following a split in 1979.
