About the work“Is he the worst artist in the US?”, asked an article about Roy Lichtenstein in “Life Magazine” in 1964, demonstrating just how outlandish Pop Art still seemed to the public at the time. The artist was not afraid of using new materials. This silkscreen “Moonscape” is printed on blue Rowlux plastic film, which emphasises the artificiality of the nocturnal landscape indicated by just a few shapes and creates movement in the eye of the beholder. The iridescent surface of the film simulates the reflective surface of the water in a simple manner.
