Art Center 3 (Blow Down), 2001
Wood, cardboard with lights neon tubes and drawings
(H x W x D)232 × 118 × 295 cm
About the work"Art Center 3 (Blow Down)" is a scaled-down version of a museum showroom. Original miniature works on paper by Thomas Hirschhorn, which were created at the same time as the installation, hang on the white walls. In order to make these works appear larger, the exhibition space has been "blown down". In doing so, Hirschhorn formulates his criticism of the common practice in the art world of enlarging works and video projections. The L’Oréal advertising slogan "Because You’re Worth it", created in 1971, can be read on one of the works at the front of the so-called White Cube exhibition space.
