About the workUnnoticed encounters in everyday life: in her photographs, the East German photographer Evelyn Richter repeatedly drew attention to people passing through. She portrayed passengers on trains and platforms - usually as a silent observer with a feel for the right moment and framing. The scenes illustrate the special moment of being on the move, the pause between departure and arrival. Richter, who taught at the Leipziger Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst (Academy of Visual Arts) for many years, has created an extensive artistic-documentary oeuvre.
