on display, room 032.3 About the workIn the dark, the world shows a different side. The East Berlin photographer Sibylle Bergemann has captured the nocturnal atmosphere of an illuminated street. The photograph looks like a snapshot taken through the windscreen of a moving car. The dancing lights add to the dynamism of the image – the scene seems to be in motion. The abstract shapes of the light are the result of the long exposure time. In darkness, a longer period of time is required to capture an image, and without a tripod, blur can easily occur.
