About the workSimilar to the famous Thonet coffee house chairs, the backrest of this first model with arms also featured a slightly curved arc. In order to give the design a more delicate touch, however, round bars were not used. During this period, the Thonet company from Vienna presented new chairs and tables at the universal exhibitions in London in 1862 and Paris in 1867. Due to the great demand, the company also established further production sites and sales offices, including one in London in 1863.
