About the workA structure made up of different elements that don’t quite seem to fit together: The technique follows the Venetian tradition. In contrast, the handles are reminiscent of Art Nouveau decorations, which were popular in Central Europe around 1900. Glass vases by Tiffany and Lötz, which may have been a distant model for the colourful fan motif, also date from this period. This vase is indicative of a period of crisis in Venetian glass art, from which a way out was not to be found until the 1920s.
