About the workGlass beads strung on safety pins – the Japanese artist Shige Fujishiro, who lives in Hanover, is contented with these simple visual means. In patient, detailed work, he creates a luminous and glittering homage to a product of our consumer society that is increasingly disappearing from the urban landscape – the plastic bag. Fujishiro’s works scratch the surface of kitsch. He shows us how to add glamour to an everyday object. The work is part of a larger series of glass bead bags by the artist.
