on display, room G 11For the French manufacturer Daum, the American designer Joseph Hilton McConnico (1943–2018) designed various objects that reflect the playful spirit of postmodern design of the 1980s and 1990s. This style is characterized by an often ironic approach to forms, colours, and materials, while the purely functional aspects of objects receded into the background. In his Cactus series, McConnico combines transparent crystal glass with bright green pâte de verre, a glass paste that is placed in a mould and fused in a kiln.
