on display, room 032.2The Leverkusen artist Wolf Vostell turned his face into a biographical map, revealing his ties to locations such as Paris, Berlin and New York. In 1971, this self-portrait was included in the "Capitalist Realism" catalogue alongside those of five other artists. Inspired by the art action organised by Gerhard Richter and Konrad Lueg in a Düsseldorf furniture store in 1963 under the title "Living with Pop – A Demonstration for Capitalist Realism", the West Berlin gallery owner René Block turned this slogan into a socially critical artistic brand.
