About the workRobert Clark was born in a small town in the US state of Indiana. As an artist, he adopted the name of his native state. He was inspired by lettering on signs and commercial logos. At the beginning of the 1960s, he began to paint individual words consisting of just a few letters, such as “ART”. One of his most famous motifs is “LOVE”, which became a symbol of the hippie generation. The artist frequently produced screen prints at Edition Domberger near Stuttgart.
