on display, room 032.2 About the workThe sculptor Erwin Heerich studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy from 1945 and later became a professor there in 1969. His artistic work was inspired by representational elements, which he translated into geometric forms. His main interest was architecture. In his drawings and prints, he created structures that bore no relation to objects. The seemingly three-dimensional volumes look like sculptural or architectural plans; Heerich used the same formal language in his realised architectural projects.
