About the workA fascination with colour runs through the entire body of work of the Munich architect and painter Rupprecht Geiger. It can be seen, for example, in his exploration of colour screen prints from the mid-1950s onwards. Using fluorescent pigments, which were new at the time and which strongly reflected the light, he was able to explore the variations of colour. Geiger attributed a large part of the perception of colour to the power of imagination: “To really see colour, you have to close your eyes and think about it,” he wrote in his 1975 book “Colour is an Element”.
