About the workFrench artist of German origin. By depicting indecent subjects, he deliberately rebelled against the sober objectivity and morals of the era. For Bellmer, the female body was like a sentence that invites viewers to break it down into individual letters and then reassemble it differently. In “Sinnesverschiebung” (Sensory Displacement), faces appear on feet or an ear on a hand – an appeal to the viewer to experience the senses in a new way.
