About the workThe designer and engineer Hans Gugelot began working for the Braun electrical company in 1954. The SK 5 was one of the first object created in cooperation with the industrial designer Dieter Rams. The radically reduced design of the white, metal body with its acrylic glass top and light wood cover became a classic. For the first time, Braun home electronics combined individual devices to form a radio and record player into one and used abbreviations for their products instead of more illustrious-sounding names. The SK 4 became known as “Snow White’s Coffin” because of its acrylic glass cover.
