Status
not on displayThis small bronze statuette depicts the Düsseldorf history painter Julius Wilhelm Blaeser (1814–1834). His artistic career began with great promise: in 1833, he enrolled in the class of the painter Karl Ferdinand Sohn at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. Yet only a year later, his career came to a tragic end when Blaeser drowned in the River Rhine at the age of just twenty. In memory of his prematurely deceased brother, the sculptor Gustav Blaeser created this statuette.
