About the workFritz Klingbeil’s works are based on simple geometric, mostly rectangular shapes. These differ in size, colour and composition. The arrangement of his colour palette, which is mostly limited to black, white and red, lends his works a clear structure. The Berlin-born artist often used Lego bricks as the basis for planning his Plexiglas sculptures. He used them to test the structure of the square coloured bodies and groups of shapes on a small scale. These constellations were partly based on mathematical calculations of proportion, space and surface, which aimed for balance.
