on display, room Das fünfte Element. Werke aus der Sammlung Kemp About the workFor his Slotted Boxes created in 1962/63, Hans Salentin used brand-new aluminium sheets, which he bent and folded over a wooden frame. The Düren-born artist employed surfaces with different textures to create reflections. In this work, the light is softly scattered by the matt surface. Simultaneously, it enters the hollow interiors through the opening. This creates a quiet tension between surface and space, material and emptiness. The light connects them like a formative force.
