About the workThe small plates from which this vase is fused are made of translucent white milk glass. The amber tone is created by applying a layer of silver, which changes colour when heated several times. The process is related to silver yellow, which is often used in glass painting. A vase from this series was exhibited at the 11th Milan Triennale in 1958 and was honoured in the design magazine “domus” that year. Barovier & Toso emerged in 1942 from the merger of the glassworks of two old glassmaking families in Murano.
