not on displayThe furniture and home objects produced in the 1980s that are categorised as "Neues Deutsches Design" (New German Design) are often unique, hand-crafted pieces. Their creative concepts straddle design and art. Alongside their primary function as items of furniture, there is also an emphasis on aesthetic, ironic and pictorial elements. This multifunctional serving trolley is an example of this: it is a work of art, but at the same time it is also a toy and a utilitarian object with an integrated radio. Its kidney-shaped design also evokes the style of the 1950s.
