About the workThe blue threaded decoration on this delicate cup looks fresh and spontaneous. There are similar stylised plant motifs on a number of other cups or bowls, which are primarily from southern France. The beaker was supposedly found in the Jewish quarter in Worms. In the thirteenth century, the city was a centre of Jewish life in Germany. The luxury glassware testifies to the flourishing free trade in this period.
