About the workThe designer and architect Verner Panton became internationally famous with this armchair, whose basic design is based on a cone shape. The name “Herz-Sessel” (Heart Armchair) refers to the silhouette of the chair; the two-winged curved backrest looks heart-shaped when viewed from the front. Inspired by Pop Art, which introduced experimentation with proportions as well as motifs from everyday culture into the design vocabulary, Panton developed a new interpretation of the traditional wingback chair.
