About the workCandida Höfer's artistic interest focuses on spaces that are accessible to everyone. Station halls, libraries and churches fascinate her as places of encounter. However, the people are absent from her photographs. They are focused entirely on forms, shapes and the specific lighting situation, which Höfer never intervenes in. She studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy under Bernd and Hilla Becher, whose objective style had a lasting influence on her work. Höfer is considered an important representative of the so-called Becher School.
