About the workThis piece of multi-functional “Max Schrill” furniture, produced in an edition of 376 units for the student accommodation at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, was manufactured in the style of Max Bill’s famous stool, which he created for the Ulm School of Design in 1954. What both seats have in common is that they can also be used as tabletop lecterns and for carrying books. With this colourful and formal reworking, the Kunstflug group aimed to ironically interrogate the sober, clear aesthetics of the Ulm original.
