not on displayMagda Kröner was 75 years old when she painted this still life. Her reputation as an artist in her own time is demonstrated by a special exhibition held at the Düsseldorf Kunsthalle on the occasion of her birthday in 1929. Initially trained in landscape painting by her future husband Christian Kröner, she made her name primarily with still lifes. Magda Kröner favoured motifs that conveyed a sense of naturalness or spontaneity. The plants depicted here look as if the artist had brought them back from a walk.
